Graded NM/MT 8 by PSA/DNA. Presented is one of the more alluring and popular balls we've ever offered, a stunning rendition of a Brooklyn Dodger ball from the famed year of 1955. The Dodgers were up to the feat of dethroning their cross town AL rivals, the Yankees, who seemingly had a stranglehold on the World Series, thus winning their first and only World's Championship in Brooklyn. Dubbed the "Boys Of Summer" in Roger Kahn's novel by the same title, the Dodgers were a collection of veteran ballplayers who had been through the wars-losing several times-and compiled a stellar 98-55 regular season record before winning the borough's first Championship. During the historic 1955 season the optimum word around Brooklyn was excitement, and during that season fifteen members of the team penned their name to this stunning orb. The medium projects as though it was just recently purchased at a local sporting goods store and delivered to the Dodgers clubhouse yesterday. The stunning ball retains a freshness that is never seen in regards to team signed balls, with a crisp whiteness providing a backdrop to the signatures of legends; as well the stampings are as deep and bold as the day the ball was purchased. The overall strength of the salutations is astounding with each being offered in a blue ink and rating an overall 9/10. The ball includes the following signatures: Erskine, Kellert, Hodges, Gilliam, Amaros, Alston (sweet spot), Robinson, Hoak, Koufax, Campanella, (It should be noted that Robinson, Koufax, and Campanella are all on the same panel) Furillo, Labine, Craig, Podres, Bessent. Although the ball doesn't include the signatures of Snider, Reese, or Newcombe, what is present on the ball and the fact that it does offer a stunning signature of Sandy Koufax penned during his rookie year, makes us feel confident that this is one of the nicer '55 Dodger balls to come to market in quite some time.
