Some baseball greats get a car during their farewell tour, others get a boat and Jim Bottomley gets a ... cow? Retiring to a farm, "Sunny Jim" Bottomley's request as a parting gift was a cow, and that exactly what he got. He appeared on the front page of the St. Louis Globe-Democrat, showing his teammates how a farmhand gets the job done. A local contest to name the cow was won by Martin Duggan and Effie Plank, both choosing the name "Fielder's Choice" for Sunny Jim's new milk maker. Featured is a pair of cowbells that were donated to "Fielder's Choice" by the two contest winners, Effie choosing the Holstein Bell #0 and Martin going with the more traditional Jersey Bell #2. How can you beat this?

NOTE: The original type I photo of Jim Bottomley with Fielder's Choice IS INCLUDED in the lot.
