Jim Bottomley passed on December 11th, 1959 from a heart attack and his funeral service was held three days later. Among the pallbearers was J. J. Tucker, a friend of Bottomley's who married Jim's widow several years later. The book is signed by Jim's parents (Elizabeth and John), widow (Betty) and hundreds of visitors who came to pay their respects, each signing the memorial record. Former players and teammates include Ray Blades, Bob Gibson, Andy High, Harry Kimberlin, John Schulte, Jack Smith, Leo Ward and Joe Monahan.
