His golf swing was as sweet as his homerun swing! Offered is an alluring original news photo of The Great Bambino thinking of his retirement days on a golf course in Florida. The reverse of the photo contains a number of stamps and copy notes, including a large bright pink "3" as well as an affixed brown paper bag that reads "Getting in trim for spring practise - Babe Ruth knocking a golf ball around a course in Jacksonville, Fla., where he arrived just a short time ago." The brown bag is stamped "Feb 14 1933," which precedes the invention of wire photos, but there is another stamp in the upper right of the reverse that reads "1935 Mar 2." The image clarity is accurate with adequate contrast, suggesting that this is not a wire photo. The obverse, however, displays a few cracked wrinkles mostly around the edges and a touch of paper loss left of The Babe's front foot. A tremendous offering with copious cross-genre appeal.
