Okay, it's time to get serious! Presenting one of the true highlights of this auction (or any auction, for that matter) that is capable of making even the most advanced of collector's jaw drop! Offered is a monumental example of one of the most iconic baseball cards in the hobby, a T3 Turkey Red cabinet card featuring the one and only Ty Cobb! It's not going to be easy to describe exactly how special this card is, but a good starting point, obviously, is the technical grade. The stringent evaluators at SGC have graded this remarkable specimen at the 60 EX 5 level, but trust me when I say that the overall appearance exceeds that evaluation in a big way. This miraculous artifact shows light to moderate corner wear, with the lower right being slightly more advanced, but the interior of the card is so magnificent as to immediately draw the viewer's attention away from any perimeter issue. The colors on this piece are absolutely fantastic, blazing forth with all the hues and tones of a top-notch fireworks display. The focus and detail are simply stunning, giving the viewer the impression that he might just as well be viewing an oil painting by Rembrandt or Picasso. Even the aforementioned corner touches don't seem to warrant the opined grade, which makes one wonder if there isn't some tiny, microscopic wrinkle somewhere that a grader somehow detected. As it stands, only a handful of T3 Cobb examples have graded higher at either major grading company, as these cabinet-sized beauties rarely survived the ravages of time in better than VG/EX condition. Add to the fact that it's Ty Cobb, a first-class Hall of Famer, and this magnificent artifact becomes even more compelling. The reverse is clean and brilliantly struck, adding even more appeal to this masterpiece! Befitting of even the most advanced of collections, this is a truly special collectible keepsake that is sure to please the lucky winning bidder!
