Take a close look at the featured '52 Topps Mickey Mantle high-number card, graded NM 7 by the cardboard specialists at PSA, and just allow your mind to take in every aspect of this iconic pasteboard. You probably noticed right away that the centering is not dead-on, moderately favoring the right edge as is common and often expected of the '52 high-numbers in general and the Mantle in particular. But go a little deeper ... examine each corner, each edge, the color and clarity of the central image, the pure whiteness of the Mantle nameplate and surrounding borders, and you'll have no choice but to conclude that for a grade of PSA 7, this is a spectacular example of perhaps the most celebrated issue in the hobby! The right upper corner is the best of the four, registering close to MINT status, while the lower right seems sharp enough for NM/MT consideration, and the two left corners are more aligned with NM+ specifications, combined with problem-free edges to rate the perimeter as NM/MT overall. The central image is equally above grade, a clean canvas free of occlusion that delivers the image of Mantle with stunning accuracy and a sparkling brightness uncommon for both the issue and the grade, reminiscent of or perhaps included in the famous "find". The hearty layer of gloss that gives this beauty its reflective glow enhances the overall allure, and in addition to the immaculate reverse, can only lead any experienced collector to conclude that with better centering, this card would probably rate a full point higher. All things considered, this is one of the most visually pleasing 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle cards we've ever encountered at the grade of PSA 7!
