For reasons unbeknownst to us, the grading team at PSA has neglected to assign a numerical grade to the offered T206 red Ty Cobb portrait, and has instead deemed it "altered" and encapsulated it in an AUTHENTIC holder. Perhaps they felt that one of the edges has been lightly straightened; nonetheless the offered card exhibits tremendous visual appeal, with a deep bold background and a handful of touches to the delicate white enamel that are hardly visible sans magnification. The image is focused and registered to near perfection, sitting amid nearly equal borders that reveal a very slight centering inclination for the east. The Sweet Caporal reverse is equally well-centered, with a bold red print and very little indication of tobacco staining. The "Georgia Peach" remains widely regarded as the greatest player the game has ever known, having received the most votes of any player on the inaugural Hall of Fame ballot in 1936. He is credited with setting over 90 Major League Baseball records during his career, many of which, including most career batting titles and highest career batting average, still stand today. Guaranteed to be genuine and authentic, the offered collectible is a dream come true for the hobbyist interested in securing a true pasteboard classic without breaking the bank.
