This is what you call a triple threat; a Hall of Famer, a rookie card, and the final card in the 1952 Topps set. Collectors committed to taking on the 1952 Topps set without the benefit of unlimited funds are forced to make a tough choice; pick up a low-grade beater or snag a sharp-looking, value-priced SGC AUTHENTIC. The offered card didn't receive a numerical grade by SGC but the central image of Mathews is of NM/MT quality with no creases or other blemishes, the centering is shaded toward the lower left but still superior to most in the series, and the corners are solid NM quality if not slightly stronger. The reverse is shifted to the horizontal right side but the surface is very clean. A particularly eye appealing example of a very key '52 Topps card.
