Steve Carlton's first major league appearance was anything but memorable; he pitched to one batter and walked him. But "Lefty" turned out to be one of the best, and he earned his first victory against the New York Mets on August 5th, 1966, tossing a complete game in the 7-1 Cardinals victory.
