Launched in 1929 by Brown & Williamson, Wings cigarettes still exists today, owned and operated by Japan Tobacco Incorporated. In the 1940's, the brand was used to distribute the "Modern American Airplanes" series of trading cards, but go back a few years and you'll find the company, like many other tobacco companies of the time, used baseball to help peddle their smokes. A generic player with the Wings "W' logo on his uniform takes off for first after hitting the ball, with the easel fold out on the back suggesting that the piece was intended to stand on a store counter. Clearly showing wear from its advanced age but still very intact, the display measures approximately 35" x 24."
