Entitled "The Fiddler," this highly recognizable image was painted by Phillip Garris in the summer of 1974, earning both the Gold Medal and the Award of Merit from the Society of Illustrators. It was subsequently used as the album cover for the Grateful Dead's "Blues for Allah" album, released in September of 1975. The offered item is an Artist's Proof, one of just 50 created, and signed by the artist at the bottom. Visible image measures approximately 18 1/2" x 18 1/2" and the frame is 30" x 30". A very distinctive and scarce piece of original artwork, worthy of inclusion in any music memorabilia collection.
