You won't find a more legendary foursome to pose together on a vintage photo than Lou Gehrig, Tris Speaker, Ty Cobb and Babe Ruth on this amazing original type I snapshot from 1928. Both Speaker and Cobb were playing their final season, closing out their storied careers with a Philadelphia A's team that included Mickey Cochrane, Al Simmons, Jimmie Foxx, Eddie Collins and Lefty Grove. Even with that unprecedented level of star power, Ruth, Gehrig and the New York Yankees repeated as AL champs, besting the A's by 3 games and defeating the St. Louis Cardinals in a World Series sweep. Dated April 14, 1928 on the reverse with various notations and a clip for which the photo was used, the piece measures approximately 10" x 5 3/4" and is in outstanding condition with a slight area of missing paper in the lower right. One of the finest photos we've ever come across.
