All good things must come to an end, and this original type I photo captures the legendary Babe Ruth making his final appearance at Yankee Stadium on June 13, 1948, getting a warm applause from the crowd as well as the opposing Cleveland Indians squad to mark the 25th anniversary of "the house that Ruth built" and the retirement of his #3. Ruth is shown just as he emerges from the Cleveland dugout, hold Bob Feller's bat in his right hand and tipping his hat to the crowd with his left. Other than the usual wear associated with a 70-year old photo, the 7x9 piece presents extremely well, has the Associate Press stamp on the reverse as well as the teletype caption.
