Sometimes the difference between greatness and failure hinges on taking a risk. Already one of the top teams in the league with an 11-3 record in 1976, the Dallas Cowboys took the risk of trading their #24 pick in the first round, along with three second round picks, to move up to #2 and snag University of Pittsburgh Heisman Trophy winner Tony Dorsett. In Dorsett's rookie year, he rushed for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns, earning Rookie of the Year honors while leading the Cowboys to a Super Bowl Championship and becoming the first player to win the NCAA championship and Super Bowl in consecutive seasons. With Dorsett's 12-year body of work including 12,739 rushing yards (#9 all-time) and a trip to the Hall of Fame, the gamble paid big dividends. Presented is an astonishing piece of football memorabilia that personifies the great Dallas Cowboy teams of the 1970s, a game-used Tony Dorsett Dallas Cowboys jersey, autographed and inscribed,"Heisman 76 H.O.F. 94" on the reverse above his nameplate in blue sharpie. Inside the collar is the appropriate Southland Mfg. Co. label and size 46 tag, with ironed-on letters and numbers on the front and back. The jersey has a white mesh body and durene sleeves, and exhibits good game use with hit marks, stains, and scuffs, particularly on the sleeves and collar. LOA from Mile High Card Company
