Introduced to the baseball card community nearly 50 years ago, there has not been another pasteboard since that has matched the popularity of the Nolan Ryan rookie card. I know it's hard to believe, but after over 7,500 submissions to PSA, this key Hall of Fame rookie still only has one superior. Even as one of 60 graded PSA 9 MINT, the card is safely within the top 1% of all graded specimens. The large majority of Ryan rookie cards are woefully off-center, the biggest pitfall that prevents a top grade. The featured card is not off-center but more like "not perfectly centered," experiencing a minuscule preference toward the bottom horizontal edge that easily meets the qualifications for MINT status. Noticeably high-end, even for this grade, the card offers two MINT and two GEM MINT endpoints joining chip-free GEM MINT edges on both the front and the susceptible yellow-printed reverse. A few characteristic microdots of pixel-sized print can be detected in the purple team circle but it's minimal compared to normal and the remainder of the surface is nearly perfect. Replete with a smooth, even application of gloss, this richly registered Ryan rookie is a clear winner at the elite level of PSA 9.
