Graded NM/MT 8 by PSA. On the reverse of this splendid pasteboard, the first caption of the biography reads "One of the biggest siege guns of the New York Yankees" What may seem to be steady praise, in this case seems to fall well short of an apt description of "The Iron Horse" Lou Gehrig. Gehrig along with the incomparable Babe Ruth accounted for half of the greatest duo the game has ever known and at the end of his unfortunately curtailed career had compiled career statistics that included 493 HR's, a.340 BA, and an astounding 1995 RBI, all before leaving the game due to the illness that now bears his name. The featured collectible hails from the most attractive, important and immensely popular issue of Gehrigs career, the 1933 Goudey release. Four fabulously clean and sharp corners stand guard of a near pristine white border that in a near perfectly centered presentation frames this childhood keepsake as if it was a Picasso. The surface is a scintillating regally flavored palate that offers a blemish free appearance of the strapping slugger at the beginning of his powerful left handed swing. The colors are a vivid atonement of an orchestration in a kaleidoscope of colors that seemingly when placed in their current state elevate each other to dizzying heights. An attention commanding fusion of robins egg blue surrounds the pinstriped Yankee whose adornment of peachy flesh-tones as well as the deep mahogany of his chosen war club sets this presentation upon a smashing success. The reverse is a captivating presentation with a vividly green inked synopsis laid against a slightly antique white obverse with absolutely no hindrance of staining or wear apparent on this supremely well kept tribute to the famed ball player. Offered in satisfying and altogether impressive strong NM/MT condition.
