An extremely rare regional issue that appeared in the New York area in the early 1950s, the Stahl-Meyer cards were issued in packages of frankfurters, and despite the heavy coating of wax applied to the pasteboards, the direct contact with the meat resulted in product staining on most known examples. The majority of such examples are therefore in low grade, yet their utter scarcity and restriction to New York area players continues to drive their desirability to this day. The offered Mickey Mantle card has been assigned a grade of PR-FR 1 by PSA, yet only seven examples have ever graded higher, six if you don't include one that was most likely never issued and resides in a MINT 9 holder. This one displays a moderate horizontal crease across the middle of the card, and some light pencil marks on the reverse in the promotional redemption area. Nevertheless, this is a seldom-seen keepsake worthy of inclusion in any Mantle or type collection.
