Over 4,000 1960 Topps Mickey Mantle cards submitted to PSA have yet to produce a single GEM MINT specimen, and only about half of 1% of those have reached the status of this MINT beauty. So excessively shiny and vibrant is this featured specimen that it's a minor miracle it wasn't somehow mistaken for candy and consumed with the stick of bubble gum accompanying it out of the Topps factory. The centering is strong for the issue if not subtly in favor of the horizontal southwest. The bottom right corner has a slight imperfection that precludes it from GEM MINT status, while two other corners are very close to and one is unquestionably GEM MINT. The reverse is more accurately centered and nearly unimprovable. Importantly, the red background of the player cut-out is free of the print defects that so commonly mar this susceptible area. This is a phenomenal specimen that belongs in a world-class collection!
