Offered next for bidding is a stalwart NM/MT 8 example of Hank Aaron's 1954 Topps rookie card that would make a strong case for higher consideration from PSA were it centered just a smidgen more in favor of the west edge. This self-evident centering, however, is more than adequately counterbalanced by a MINT to GEM MINT image characterized by accurate registration, bold and thoroughly saturated colors, and a predominantly clean orange backdrop. Some expected roughness around the edges, particularly at the top, confirms the grade of NM/MT 8, while the back surface echoes the prominent printing of the front. Ask anyone in the hobby right now what early Topps sets are picking up steam, and you'll undoubtedly encounter 1954 in almost every answer. As the most popular sets in the hobby seem to hinge on their inclusion of significant rookie cards, we can say with total confidence that the 1954 Topps Aaron rookie is leading the 1954 charge. Isn't it time you finally scored one for yourself? After all, as distance from the steroids era allows us to further appreciate the natural talents and achievements of this sensation from Jacksonville, his stature is only bound to grow and grow. SABR voted him the 4th best baseball player ever in 1999, behind only Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Ted Williams, and ahead of Cobb, DiMaggio, Wagner, Mantle, Mays, etc. Some lists have him even higher. What about yours?
