What was once a promising career including a solid rookie season in 1954, ended prematurely for Harry Agganis. After a strong start to the 1955 season, Agganis fell ill and died during the season. Actually, Agganis was a two sport star, and was drafted into the NFL. But Boston Red Sox owner Tom Yawkey outbid Cleveland Browns owner Paul Brown for "The Golden Greek's" services. Great green color in the background surrounding a crisp image of the smiling Agganis. This card is the only PSA NM-MT+ 8.5 example graded by PSA with only five examples higher.
