Predating his immensely popular 1948 Leaf card, baseball pioneer Jackie Robinson was the subject of this card from the Pleetwood Slacks company and released in 1947, his true rookie season. With limited information to be garnered it is the opinion of this auctioneer that the offered card was most likely if not almost assuredly released in black neighborhoods and it obviously has survived in a scant few examples that are known within the hobby. This black-and-white card is 5 x 8 in size and is graded PSA 1 due to surface staining on the front and some back damage, however, it presents well and is an extremely rare piece. Only 3 examples have ever been graded by PSA.
