Offered is an extraordinarily scarce 1887 Old Judge Post-Production proof of Pat O'Connell of the Des Moines ball club. O'Connell played in the Major Leagues for part of one season in 1886 for Baltimore with the American Association where he batted an anything but robust .181. Featured in a catching pose with an unidentified uniform on, O'Connell appears in the regular N172 Old Judge issue with several different variations, but none like this, and doesn't appear in the N173 release. The surface appears as though it was most likely a post-production surface as it is littered with a crackling that doesn't appear to be an issue with the regular production cards. The image is mounted to a cabinet in much the same fashion as a regular production card would be. An imagination conjuring example from a famed issue. The offered card most likely hails from a post production period ranging from 1890-1915.
