With a 100% completion rating and a stupefying GPA of 5.7, the offered E93 Standard Caramel set has long resided in the #2 position on the Current and All-Time Finest PSA Set Registry leader boards, sandwiched by high-grade sets commanded by two of the biggest names in the vast card collecting kingdom. Relatively few changes have been made to the long-standing registry that still resides at the #2 All Time Finest position: Jim Pastorious has been upgraded from PSA 3 to SGC 50, Eddie Collins has been upgraded from PSA 5 to PSA 6, Deacon Phillippi has been upgraded from PSA 4 to PSA 6, Honus Wagner has been added in PSA 6, Nap Lajoie has been downgraded from PSA 8 to PSA 6, and Rube Waddell has been downgraded from PSA 6 to PSA 5. Not surprisingly, 11 of the 30 cards comprising the offered set are bettered by only a single superior example on record at PSA, while 5 have only seen 2 superior examples surface, and another 5 have only seen 3 better. But enough numbers already! The E93 set shares distinction with a handful of similarly designed caramel sets as one of the most vibrant and delectable candy issues ever produced, a quality that exponentially increases with every step up the grading ladder. Indeed, the undiluted colors featured throughout the offered exceptionally high-grade assembly are so thoroughly vibrant and hypnotic that it's a minor miracle they weren't mistakenly consumed with the caramels with which they were issued. As with the majority of early candy issues, the enthusiast should keep in mind that, unlike most contemporary tobacco issues, caramel cards were targeted primarily to children, which effectively explains the perceived paucity of examples that have survived in anything approaching high grade. Moreover, because this set is so heavily laden with superstars--18 Hall of Famers, in fact--that young, sticky-fingered fans no doubt frequently traded for their favorites, a definite reason why approximately 85% of surviving examples rate EX or below at PSA. An unprecedented offering in delicious high-grade that should be considered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Please note that all 30 cards are being offered both as a complete set and as singles, with the highest aggregate bidding taking the cake, or candy, home. So bid strong, bid often, and bid with determination. PSA 7 NM: Chase, Wiltse, Gibson. PSA 6 EX/MT: Cobb, Wagner, Mathewson, Joss, Plank, Lajoie, Tinker, Chance, Bender, Brown, Clarke, Griffith, Jennings, Collins, Jones, Phillippi, Donovan. PSA 5 EX: Young, McGraw, Evers, Waddell, Delehanty, Ames, Leach, Dooin. PSA 4 VG/EX: Coveleskie. SGC 50 VG/EX 4: Pastorious.

Bid on the complete 30-card set or bid individually on each card in separate lots. Break up the set, or keep it together; it's really your choice! At the end of the auction, the set will be sold to the highest aggregate bidding, whether that is the sum of the individual lots or the highest bid for the complete set offered in this lot. Our website automaticaly reflect whichever portion has received the highest bidding. Placing a bid on this lot constitutes bidding on the entire 30-card set.
