Mile High Card Company is proud to present one of the finest 1933 DeLong sets ever assembled. Whether it's the unique design of the cards, its relative scarcity to other issues of the time period or that fact that it's achievable to complete due to its diminutive 24-card size, the 1933 DeLong collection is a widely challenged assemblage on the PSA Set Registry with 24 complete listings on the All-Time Finest list. Of course, completing the set and doing so in high-grade are two different things, with the latter proving to be a lifelong ambition that takes decades to complete, if you're able to do it at all. Only 3 sets, each belonging to well-known collectors, have achieved an overall set rating above 8 on the PSA list. And that's no surprise considering only 170 cards from the entire series have graded PSA 8 with just 4 at PSA 8.5 and only two have earned PSA's MINT label. The featured collection was painstakingly assembled, each card hand-picked for aesthetics that transcend the lofty PSA assessment with opportunities to add to the collection bypassed when the card just didn't meet up to the collector's standards, even if the technical grade did. As a result, this 24-card marvel joins the three others with an overall rating over 8, though is not listed on the PSA registry due to an SGC 88 NM/MT 8 graded Lou Gehrig card. Ironically, this particular DeLong Gehrig is not the highest ever graded but is well-known throughout the hobby as probably the finest example known, originally belonging to one of the true giants in the baseball card world. The example of Kiki Cuyler and Pepper Martin are graded PSA 8.5, both the highest ever graded and the only ones in existence at that level, with every other card graded PSA 8 save for #3 Melillo (PSA 7) and 16 Warneke (PSA 7.5). This collection is being offered as a complete set as well as each card individually and will be sold depending on which is higher, the complete set or the sum of the individual cards.
