Offered here is an absolutely exceptional single signed ball of the great Jimmie Foxx; after a quick reflection I firmly believe this is the finest Foxx single we have ever had the pleasure of offering. As the first baseman of Connie Mack’s 1929-1931 pennant machine, Jimmie Foxx slugged an even 100 home runs, putting him in the same elite stratosphere as Babe Ruth. In fact, during the late 1920’s and 1930’s, only Jimmie Foxx could claim to be Ruth’s equal in home run production. “Double X” made the first serious run at Ruth’s hallowed 60 home run record when he clubbed 58 round trippers in 1932, and the next year he did what the Babe had failed to do - win Triple Crown Award. When the three-time MVP winner retired in 1945, he had amassed 534 home runs, second only to the Babe, and left a career batting average of .325. Due to the rapid decline in Foxx's health and death at the early age of 59, anything signed by "The Beast" is eagerly sought by collectors - but a single-signed ball is a whole other story. Since Foxx passed before the baseball memorabilia boom of the 1970's and 1980's, there is a dearth of baseballs bearing his solo signature, as not many people thought to seek one during his lifetime. “Double X” has perfectly signed the sweet spot in dark blue ball point. The featured collectible is on a Professional League ball and comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA overall grade of NM 7 with an autograph grade of NM/MT 8.
