The concept is simple; bring fame and notoriety to your hometown and they reward you for it. Hall of Famer Jim Bottomley led the St. Louis Cardinals to the World Series four times, snagging World Series championships in 1926 and 1931. After returning home to Nokomis, Illinois the conquering hero, Montgomery County's favorite son was presented this gold-tone baseball bat engraved, "Sunny Jim Bottomley of the World's Champion St. Louis Cardinals from friends of Montgomery County, Illinois." About the size of a regulation stick, this metal bat has a chain so that it could be hung on a wall for display. Moderate to heavy scratch marks are present, which happens with metal that's been handled for over 80 years, but the engraving is legible. This comes from the personal estate of Jim Bottomley.
