William Aloysius McGowan was an American League umpire who worked the league from 1925-1954 after several minor-league stints. His 30-year career in the A.L. included 8 World Series appearances and 4 All-Star games, and once umpired in 2,541 consecutive games. He was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame by the Veteran's Committee in 1992. He passed away in 1954 after suffering multiple heart attacks. Offered here is an official American League ball signed by McGowan on the east panel, amid 9 other signatures that PSA/DNA has dubbed "non-malicious clubhouse signatures." Bill's autograph is not an easy one to find in any condition (this one rates a 4-5 out of 10) so if you're a serious Hall of Fame autograph collector, you owe it to yourself to take a good, hard look at this ball.
