Offered is a stunning oversized image of the man who absolutely transformed the game from small ball to a big brash game much in his own image. George Burke photos of Babe Ruth are exceptionally desirable on their own merits without an autograph but throw in the autograph especially if it is penned to former teammate Henry Johnson and desirable becomes an absolute must have. Just the very thought that the Bambino grabbed this oversized Burke photograph and penned out a remembrance to a fellow teammate is unbelievable, with the flowing script reading, “To My Pal, Henry Johnson From Babe Ruth Set. 1st 1931” in a hand that only Ruth could do. The ticker stock photo retains a luster of the image that surely approaches perfection while the overall grade of the item would be in the EX range on technical merit mainly due to several wrinkles around the edges as well as a small rip at the top and stain to the right of the image (all of the detractors could quite easily be matted and framed out of the central image,) A stunning rendition of the great slugger!
