Several lots in this auction are dedicated to Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter, and why not? The 11th Yankee Captain is one of the most beloved pinstripers in team history and is on schedule to become the first Yankee to join the sacred 3,000-hit club early next season. When he does, demand for his already coveted autograph is bound to multiply, which is why now is the perfect opportunity to secure this high-end, three-piece ensemble, each autographed by "Mr. November" and acquired by an avid Jeter fan that demanded the very best. First is a copy of Jeter’s autobiography, “The Life You Imagine,” signed on the title page by Jeter as well as co-author and Yankee broadcaster, Jack Curry, with a laminated card advertising the Barnes & Noble book signing held in New York City at which the autographs were obtained. Next is a professionally framed commemorative photo of Jeter finishing the swing that netted his 2,722th career hit, making him the All-Time hits leader in Yankee history. Creatively matted under this brilliantly vivid photo is an authentic 1994 Signature Rookies Derek Jeter Autograph card, penned in solid blue sharpie and numbered 6560/8650. While not graded, it’s hard to imagine that the flawlessly even and bold signature wouldn’t rate a perfect “10.” The piece measures approximately 15” x 19” framed. Finally, the grand prize of the group is an Official American League Gene Budig baseball, signed in 1996 by Jeter on the sweet spot, with the inscription “ROY” and numbered 619/1996. Made specifically in honor of Jeter, the ball has a “1996 American League, Derek Jeter, Rookie of the Year” stamp on the lower panel. The solid white sphere also has a PSA/DNA authentication sticker next to the label, and the LOA, while not included, can be obtained from PSA/DNA. A noticeably bold and clean example of this widely coveted ROY season commemorative collectible, anyone who has ever encountered any of the other 1995 examples, the vast majority fo which infamously display unusually faded signatures, can attest in the affirmative that the offered example may just be the very finest one of them all. An absolutely gorgeous collection that will unquestionably become more coveted and valuable over time!
