Most advanced collectors don't generally look for anything after 1980, but the Jerry Rice rookie card is undoubtedly an exception. Notorious for its condition-sensitive green edges and chronic centering problems, the 1986 Jerry Rice rookie card is one of the toughest modern day finds at the GEM MINT level. Drafted out of Mississippi Valley State University, Rice was never considered "the next big thing" like an Elway or Manning was when he entered the NFL, otherwise, people might have taken greater notice and there would be more specimens at the top of the PSA grading scale. As a result, only 56 Jerry Rice rookie cards have earned the mark of PSA 10 out of almost 20,000 submissions. Nearly flawless around the chip-prone perimeter with problem-free surfaces and dead-on centering, this is a specimen that really has only one direction to go from a standpoint of value.
