It's been said for years, even decades, that the 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie card is one of the most significant basketball cards ever produced. With the recent surge in demand for investment grade sports cards across the board and the popularity of the documentary "The Last Dance" that chronicles the life and career of MJ, you can take away the word "basketball" and steadfastly declare that his '86 Fleer rookie is card is one of the most significant cards ever produced. And we're not about specialty subset, super atomic refractor 1/1 golden tickets that are grand prize chase cards. Sure, that's a different beast altogether. We're talking about a card that was and is every bit as possible to pull from a pack as every other card, simply one of 132 examples that make up the set. To be honest, it should really come as no great surprise that MJ's Fleer rookie card has reached such enormous heights; it probably should have happened long ago. For all the amazing athletes that have come and gone since the great Babe Ruth hung up his cleats in 1935, no other athlete has been so widely acknowledged as the greatest ever to play their sport than "His Airness" Michael Jordan. Like Ruth, who made the home run a focal point of a game that primarily utilized a "hit and steal" philosophy during the dead ball era, Jordan's high-flying "above the rim" athleticism, combined with a shooter's touch and an ability to raise his game at the most critical of moments changed how the game would be played for future generations. As with some baseball players that succeeded Ruth, others have come into the NBA and posted similar, in some cases superior, statistics to Jordan, but his dominance and innovative style was so unique to the moment that anyone who has ever witnessed him play, no matter who may come along, will likely never capitulate that Jordan is and always will be the best ever. Presented is the single-most defining hardcourt pasteboard that brings instant credibility to any collector that possesses one in GEM MINT condition. The colored edges and well-documented centering problems of the inaugural Fleer collection has limited the GEM MINT rate of Jordan rookie cards to a mere 1.5% of all submissions. The term "pack-fresh" ably describes the incredible qualities of this captivating card. There isn't a single prominent chip anywhere along the full-bleed perimeter, even at the most vulnerable area of the endpoints, which are GEM MINT and perfectly squared. The image of Jordan, elevating to the basket for a one-handed slam while a helpless defender can do nothing but watch in disbelief, actually seems bolder and more clearly defined than most specimens. Of course, the front and back surfaces are immaculate; PSA would not have granted its ultimate grade for such a high-profile specimen otherwise. If you've never owned the famous rookie card of Michael Jordan in perfect PSA 10 GEM MINT but are fortunate enough to be able to make the plunge, it's a good thing you waited for one like this to come along. Simply awesome!
