Winning back to back World Series Championships with their monster line-up of All-Stars and interchangeable role players, the Cincinnati Reds earned the nickname, "The Big Red Machine." While future Hall of Famers Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, and Tony Perez, and All-Time hit king Pete Rose set the table, it was the thunderstick of outfielder George Foster that often delivered the knockout punch. Over a three year period from 1976-1978, Foster was simply the most dominant hitter in the National League, averaging 40 home runs, 130 RBI and a .302 batting average. His 1977 Most Valuable Player season was one of the greatest performances of the post-war era, posting a .320 batting average with 52 homers and 149 RBI. Presented is a classic Cincinnati Reds jersey, game-used and autographed by slugger George Foster during the 1980 or 1981 season, his last appearances with the Reds before moving on to the New York Mets. This white gamer has the trademark number and logo appearing side by side on the front, with a blue-sharpie signature, inscribed "George Foster NL MVP 1977 WS Champs 75-76" under the number. All identifiers are individually tackle twill stitched with the Rawlings size 42 tag (measures to size 46 across the chest and is tapered) stitched inside the front right tail. It was made without year tag, which is not uncommon for Reds jerseys of that era. LOA from George Foster, Mile High Card Co.
