Although the United States Football League (USFL) was only in existence for three seasons, its impact paved the way for several NFL rule changes as well as teams in Arizona and Jacksonville. While playing a spring schedule that never directly competed with the NFL, some of the nation's best talent opted for the upstart league, none greater than the Heisman Trophy winning running back Hershel Walker. The USFL afforded Walker an opportunity to do something forbidden by NFL rules; a chance to turn professional after the end of his junior season rather than wait for his collegiate class to graduate the next year. Walker quickly became the face of the new league as the star of the New York/New Jersey Generals, which was owned by real estate magnate Donald Trump from 1984-1985. Walker went on to win the USFL rushing title in 1983 and 1985, with the latter establishing a professional football record for single-season rushing yards with 2,411 yards while averaging 5.5 yards per attempt in 18 games. In his USFL career, Walker had 5,562 yards rushing during his three seasons with the Generals. Presented is perhaps the most iconic game-used jersey to ever emerge from the USFL, that of Generals running back Hershel Walker, signed by Walker on the reverse. This USFL gamer has a Champion XL label on the right front tail and shows game use, specifically on the letters in his "WALKER" nameplate, with no alterations of any kind. The autograph and inscription, "Best Wishes" and "#34" are in blue ballpoint pen and rate a "7" in strength. LOA from Richard Russek, Andy Imperato/Grey Flannel, PSA/DNA, and Mile High Card Company.
