It's kind of an unwritten rule that advanced vintage baseball card collectors won't even look at anything produced after 1979, and the really hardcore collectors will slide that cutoff back as far as 1971. However, there's one exception to the rule, as even the most stubborn enthusiast is likely to capitulate when a PSA 10 copy of Rickey Henderson's 1980 Topps rookie card is in play. For reasons unknown, the Henderson RC defies all logic with its lack of PSA 10 specimens, producing just 15 specimens at the top of PSA's grading scale out of around 14,600 submissions. That's one GEM MINT card out of every thousand graded, compared to one out of every six for the rest of the set. There's over 1,500 specimens graded MINT that virtually every elite level HOF rookie card collector has been forced to settle for. But if you're unwilling to compromise and have the ability to go the distance, here's an opportunity that can't be ignored! A perfectly centered masterpiece that displays a level so close to perfection that PSA simply could not associate it with the pool of MINT specimens. Even the reverse clearly stands head and shoulders above those "second place" finishers, offering a virtually flawless presentation that sidesteps the usual problems associated with the colored edges. Over 35 years have passed and no greater prize has left the Topps factory since!
