The small, three-panel cards can be confusing to set-builders trying to complete an assemblage, but no advanced collector overlooks the 1980-81 Topps basketball series. Taking a page from their 1971 sticker series, Topps decided that putting three players to a card would entice collectors to complete what would be a collection smaller in number, but many collectors didn't know whether to keep the cards intact or separate them by the perforations into smaller, tobacco card-sized pasteboards.
