Ripping through an unopened wax box is always a risk/reward consideration, but keep in mind that you don't come across many 1978 Topps basketball wax boxes that are still intact. The top of the box is detached but does not affect the sealed packs. That said, you just might be able to pull out some top-notch examples of the key cards in the series, which include rookie cards of Bernard King and Dennis Johnson as well as key cards of Pete Maravich, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Julius Erving.
