The presented garment is unquestionably one of the most recognized jerseys in professional football history, the green and white #12 shirt of New York Jets quarterback "Broadway" Joe Namath that is forever linked to the delivering of a "guarantee" of victory over the 18-point favorite Baltimore Colts and the eventual merger of the two competing football leagues. Namath's legendary jersey ranks as one of the primary cornerstones to any advanced football jersey collection. The offered piece dates to the 1973-1975 era, the latter stages of Namath's career when his crippled knees no longer allowed him to perform at the prolific level that earned him a title in Super Bowl III. Clear signs of light wear indicative of a quarterback with a quick release are evident on the screened-on stripes around the sleeves while the appropriate Champions Products Inc. label appears on the left front tail.
