With all the hoopla that surrounds the Lew Alcindor rookie card in the 1969 Topps "tall boy" series, even advanced collectors forget about another legendary rookie card from the series in John Havlicek. Playing his entire 16-year career with the Boston Celtics, "Hondo" won 8 NBA championships and appeared in 13 all-star games. Although he made his debut in the 1962-63 season, there were no national release of basketball cards until the Topps tallboy issue of 1969, so this qualifies as his rookie card. Four absolutely stellar MINT corners act as the foundation for this crisp example with stunning color and an abundance of factory original gloss covering the surface. The reverse is well-imaged and free from disturbance while the centering is just about perfect. An amazingly attractive specimen that still hasn't reached its potential in the hobby.
