Returning to the hardwood after an eleven-year absence, the Topps company released a basketball set for the 1969-70 season in time to honor the introduction of the most celebrated rookie to hit the league in years, Lew Alcindor. Taking a page from their 1965 football release, Topps choose to issue the cards in the larger "tall boy" style in order to accentuate the rookie pasteboard of Lew Alcindor, just as they had with Joe Namath's debut. The set (needs #50 Robertson for completion) presents at a top-shelf appearance with most of the 99 card collection PSA graded as follows: PSA 8.5 - #51. PSA 8 - #8, 13, 17, 31, 32, 46, 52, 75 E. Hayes, and 76. PSA 7 - #6, 7, 9, 10, 11, 12, 15, 18, 30, 48, 48, 60 Reed, 67, and 78. PSA 6 - #1 Chamberlain, 2, 21, 23, 25 Alcindor, 35 Baylor, 40, 45, 55, 77, 82, and 98 Frazier. PSA 5 - #3, 20 Havlicek, 22, 24, 29, 43 Bradley, 73, 80 Monroe, 84, 85, and 90 West. PSA 4 - #26, 33, 36, 37, and 61. PSA 4 (MC) - #99 checklist. The rest of the collection is 15% NM, 35% EX/MT, 40% EX, and 10% lower.
