Following their "one and done" release in 1957, Topps returned to the hardcourt a dozen years later by releasing a basketball set for the 1969-70 season. Taking a page from their previous efforts in the 1964 hockey and 1965 football releases, Topps choose to issue the cards in the larger "tallboy" style, quite possibly to even more greatly accentuate the rookie pasteboard of Lew Alcindor. Presented here is a complete set that is 5% NM, 20% EX/MT, 30% EX, 40% VG/EX and 5% lower, along with a near-complete set (82/99) that is 10% EX/MT, 15% EX, 50% VG/EX and 25% lower. Full set cards include #1 Chamberlain VG/EX, 15 Hawkins EX/MT, 20 Havlicek VG/EX,25 Alcindor VG/EX, 35 Baylor EX, 43 Bradley EX+, 50 Robertson EX/MT+, 56 Unseld EX, 60 Reed EX, 90 West VG/EX, 98 Frazier VG/EX, and 99 Checklist VG+. The second group (missing #1 Chamberlain, 3, 5, 15 Hawkins, 25 Alcindor, 41,45, 50 Roberson, 55, 69 Reed, 75, 76, 80, 84, 90 West and 98 Frazier) includes #20 Havlicek VG/EX, 35 Baylor VG/EX, 43 Bradley VG/EX, and 56 Unseld VG.
