After the Kansas City Athletics relocated to Oakland in 1967, Kansas Senator Stuart Symington demanded a new franchise be awarded as a replacement. Thus, the Kansas City Royals were founded in 1969, comprised of mostly no-names and castoffs that finished 69-92 but still ahead of the Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, and Seattle Pilots. Presented is a game-used K.C. Royals jersey from that inaugural 1969 season, worn by relief pitcher Don O’Reiley. This 40+ year old gamer has the Wilson size 42 label and team tag “69-set 2” stitched onto the left tail. The “MLB 100th Anniversary” patch appears on the left sleeve, with Royals logo and numbers tackle twill stitched. Nice game use is evident, with some staining present on the front right side. LOA from Mile High Card Co.
