Offered is an exceptionally rare sheet that we are pleased to be able to offer to our clientele. The 1969-70 Topps set of just 99 cards was Topps' first major basketball issue since 1957. Cards were issued in 10-cent packs (each pack included 10 cards, and 24 packs were in each box). These larger cards measure 2 1/2" by 4 11/16". This sheet features the first card of many basketball stars, including Lew Alcindor (later Kareem Abdul-Jabbar). Other notable Rookie Cards on this sheet are Dave Bing, Bill Bradley, John Havlicek, Connie Hawkins, & Jerry Lucas. Other stars from the sheet are Jerry West, Lenny Wilkins, Paul Silas, Hal Greer, and others. The overall condition of this sheet is VG to EX. There are several wrinkles on the sheet, including a vertical crease down the center of the Havlicek and Dave Bing cards. There is a slight crease over the cards of Luke Jackson, Don Ohl, and Toby Kimball, as well as a slight wrinkle on the Rick Adelman card. There is normal wear as would be expected around the edges and corners of the sheet. Considering the limited print run of the issue (which was Topps first foray back into Basketball since 1957-58) the fact that the offered sheet has survived intact is like finding the Dead Sea Scrolls. (not really but it is pretty impressive) A rare chance to acquire a very impressive collectible!
