Though he never won a Cy Young award and only participated in four All-Star games, pitcher Don Sutton's streak of 17 double-digit win seasons helped propel the hurler to 324 career victories, ranking him 14th on the all-time list. While posting an impressive body of work at the minor league level, few paid much attention when his pasteboard debuted in the 1965 Topps set, taking a back seat to the more celebrated rookie cards of Jim Palmer and Fergie Jenkins. But with just one other specimen matching this flawless example at PSA 10, PSA Set Registry gurus are taking notice. The central image offers a variety of deep, rich color with unadulterated black, yellow and red pigments providing the primary coloring to a perfectly registered dual portrait of the up and coming Dodgers prospects. The reverse delivers black and salmon coloring that is one of the defining feature of this popular set, doing so without any significant liabilities. If you're an advanced set-builder or collector of elite level Hall of Fame rookie cards, this is an elusive specimen that can no longer fly under the radar.
