While he never led the league in any offensive category during his 23 big league seasons, Tony Perez was an integral cog in "The Big Red Machine" that consistently flashed all-star quality numbers year after year. The Cuban born first baseman never tipped the scales at 200 lbs. yet flashed plenty of power, topping the 20 home run mark 9 times with a high of 40 dingers in 1970 while driving in 90 or more runs for 11 consecutive seasons. Presented is Tony Perez's 1965 Topps rookie card, a newly graded example that stands as one of just 3 to earn a grade of PSA 10. Over the past five years, we've seen prices of high-grade Hall of Famer rookie cards from the 50's skyrocket exponentially in price and it's just a matter of time before the key debut cards of the 60's follow suit. The featured card is thoroughly pack fresh with corners and edges that are unquestionably of GEM MINT quality. The image of the rookie trio is exceptionally sharp, with the 22 year old Perez stealing the spotlight with his electrifying smile and support from the subtle yellow backdrop. The blue pigmentation on the back is both bold and even, unlike many from the series that have faded over the years, and the spotless white canvas displays deep black printing of the players' minor league achievements with perfect clarity. There aren't many cards that match the investment potential that this GEM MINT beauty offers, so be prepared to make a serious run if you want to snag this one!
