Bouncing back from an injury-plagued 1963 season, Mickey Mantle was back to posting numbers more in line with his incredible ability in 1964, slamming 35 homers, driving in 111 and posting a .303 batting average. Mantle once again has the look of a champion on the surface of this 1965 Topps card, a near-perfectly centered specimen that offers a variety of bold, bright color that makes the '65 Topps set one of the most highly collected in the decade. This is an elite-level example of Mickey Mantle's 1965 Topps card, unsurpassed in quality at the PSA 9 level from almost 5,000 submitted entries to PSA. Perfectly keen edges meet at four superior corners, three of which would probably qualify for GEM MINT status. Mantle's celebrated image is attractively rimmed by a potent fuchsia inlay which sharply contrasts with the yellow background of the Yankees banner, creating one of the most vibrant Mantle issues ever produced. The image itself is perfectly registered while the susceptible blue-printed reverse is chip-free. A top-notch specimen!
