While the colorful 1965 Topps set is chock full of amazing star cards, a large part of its popularity stems from the debut pasteboards of Joe Morgan and Steve Carlton. While 7 copies of the Steve Carlton RC in a PSA 10 grade allows for just about all of the major PSA Set Registry contenders to add one to their assemblage, the Morgan RC reports only 2 specimens at the top of the grading scale. With such an important rookie card carrying so much weight in the GPA calculations, no one needs to be told what a significant impact this beauty could have in the current rankings. Just 21 years old when he made his premier Topps appearance, the image of Morgan is so precise that it perfectly captures the shadows and varying light changes reflecting off of his face. The images of Morgan and Jackson, surrounded by a solid gray border, are in turn enclosed within a bone white frame that clearly confirms the card's bull's-eye centering while each edge and endpoint is totally without fault. Even the reverse, which carries a light blue pigment prone to fading over time, has withstood all challenges and projects as solid and even. Overall, a tremendous example that greatly progresses even the finest of collections!
