It's only appropriate that Joe Namath's rookie card hails from the popular 1965 Topps "tall boy" release, for only an over-sized issue could aptly contain and proclaim the larger-than-life persona of "Broadway Joe," the game's first-ever media megastar. Offered here is a sensational example of this key Hall of Fame gridiron rookie, graded PSA 8 NM/MT but boasting a delightful array of significantly above-grade features. A NM/MT touch to the top right apex joins a self-evident centering inclination for the bottom and left edges as the only grade-appropriate properties, while a sharp NM/MT+ to MINT perimeter elsewhere encompasses a truly shimmering and borderline immaculate obverse highlighted by a pristinely registered image of the recent Alabama graduate and pupil of Paul "Bear" Bryant. The deep saturation of the vibrant colors throughout the obverse is particularly noteworthy, with Joe's accurately-hued cut-out image seemingly floating in 3-D fashion before an iridescent lemon-yellow backdrop entirely devoid of any imperfections that wouldn't be tolerated on even a GEM MINT specimen, if one existed. It's almost as if Joe is already and literally standing before the bright lights of Broadway! The reverse is equally as resplendent and impressive, perhaps even more so with its accurate MINT centering. In sum, a remarkably high-end specimen for the grade of NM/MT 8 from PSA. Only 4 lone specimens have ever graded higher! So take a few minutes to closely admire the profound color quality and image clarity of this gridiron treasure, grab your sunglasses, and bask in the undeniable glow of this truly splendid "Broadway Joe."
