Teammates from 1952-64, Warren Spahn and Eddie Mathews now faced each other with Spahn pitching for the New York Mets in this June 29th, 1965 contest. Mathews won the battle, launching a 2nd inning home run, and the Braves won the game 8-6. Sorry PSA, no Willie Mays in this game, he was still banging out home runs for the Giants for a few more seasons.
