Not only is the 1963 Topps Pete Rose rookie card one of the most significant debut issues of the 1960s, with its inviting red, blue and yellow colors, it's also one of the most eye-grabbing. "Charlie Hustle" was the model of consistency, a three-time National League batting champion that not only surpassed the .300 mark in 15 of his 24 seasons but also played a minimum of 148 games every season from 1963 to 1980 except for one (1964). It's the combination of excellence and longevity that propelled Rose to baseball's all-time hit crown, and the offered PSA 8 example of his '63 Topps RC is a perfect representation to headline any advanced collection. Centered extremely close to 50/50, the card is bolstered by true NM/MT corners that stand up to scrutiny, especially at the blue colored upper endpoints, which show no more than the absolute minimum of circulation expected of such a high grade. The brilliant colors that dominate the surface are not only luminous but devoid of any unwanted print intrusions. The reverse is equally as impressive, with a sun-soaked yellow canvas properly contrasting the white and black of the rookie star quartets accomplishments in the minors. Whether it's for a world-class '63 Topps set or an assemblage of the hobby's most important pasteboards, this beauty is up to the challenge!
