Other than the famed 1952 Topps issue of "The Commerce C0met" there are two other issues that hold a special place in the heart of Mickey Mantle fans; the 1956 Topps card due to his triple crown season and 1961 Topps, the year of his "home run race" with Roger Maris. Although it's not amongst the tougher Mantle cards, any collectible that meets the stringent qualifications of a MINT 9 grade by PSA must be recognized. A precise and exceptionally well-defined image is the first attribute encountered by the enthusiast, noticeably absent of annoying stray print, and the nearly perfectly centered image. Each of the four corners stands tall as MINT or GEM MINT with a dizzying dose of stunning gloss completing the obverse. Only one has graded higher at PSA. The reverse approaches lawlessness, a well-framed canvas boasting bold black and green colors, easily delivering The Mick's body of work to that point. To date, only two have graded higher at PSA.
